Timeline

A week by week insight into the steps I took to complete my project.

Week 1 - Ideation

Brainstorm an idea for a project that has potential that can be exhibited in a gallery setting. Prepare a proposal that lightly goes over some important details about said idea.

Week 2 - Specifics

Iron out the details of the game such as how it will look, what it will be about, and any tools that will be needed to create it. Do research on said tools as well as any inspirations for the project.

Week 3 - Character Creation

Design a character(s) to be used for the game. Create character art as well as sprite sheets for use in the game. Give them a backstory.

Week 4 - Narrative Design

Design a narrative for the game that revolves around the characters created the previous week. Make sure it ties into the theme established in week 2.

Week 5&6 World Building

Create some simple assets that will be used in the game's overworld (grass, houses, NPCs). Make sure that the main character can walk around the world, talk to NPCs, and interact with objects.

Week 7 - Enemy Creation

Design enemies to be used for the battle aspect of the game. Create enemy art for use in the game.

Week 8 - Battle System

Design a turn based battle system for the game. Do research to see what are the most successful types of battle systems in role playing games today.

Week 9 - Finishing touches

Make sure that a prototype of the game is playable and presentable. While not the finished project, every element of the game should be presented in some way so feedback can be received.

Spring Quarter

Expand on aspects of the game that were developed this winter quarter. Polish art, dialogue, game flow.
